August 15, 200421 yr hi,in reality and in cockpit-videos i saw that the descent rate in the 737 NG can be up to 3000 or more, the use of spoilers makes allows even higher sinkrates.in the PMDG 737, my typical descent rate is 1600 fpm - at idle. when i start the descent at 39000, the rate is a bit higher, but very soon the fpm will be only 1400-1700 fpm.is this realistic, or are the engines a little overpowered in order to allow close-to-idle-taxiing?thanksmalte
August 15, 200421 yr Hi Malte,If you have this low descent rate, are you on an economy path descent profile, or economy speed descent profile? (you can select thios in your FMC descent page.I have seen descent rates over 3000 ft/min in my 700. You should also see "retard" and after that "arm" in the A/T engaged mode annunciation.Regards,Ren
August 15, 200421 yr You should only see retard in flight when you descend using speed profile. If you're using the path profile, what is your target speed? The lower your target speed, the less your fpm will be.Nick B.Continental Airlines Virtual 737NG Pilothttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg--AMD Athlon XP 3200+ @ 2.2 Ghz (Equal to 2.8 ghz)400W Power supply3x 80 mm Case FansSoyo VIA KT600 Dragon PlusnVidia GeForce FX 5200 128 mb2 x 512 PC400100 GB Western DigitalMicrosoft Sidewinder Precision 2
