August 29, 200421 yr Hi guys, being new to squawkbox I'm not sure if you can do this but does anyone know how to get enroute wind and temperature info on the Vatsim Network so I can insert to the 737-800 FMC. I also noticed quite often there is no wind direction/speed info on the ND or if there is it's about 5 knots at FL350 that can't be right.Jeff Kittelty.
August 30, 200421 yr VATSIM (& most online organisations) only provide a single (ground level) wind/weather layer.if you want more realistic weather, either use FS2004's built in function (not very good) or i would recommend you buy a copy of FSMeteo or Activesky 2004 (both from www.simmarket.com).they give you a planning option (if you export your flightplan in FS2004 format) that gives you your enroute winds so you can enter the data.i personally have both, but prefer FSMeteo.
August 30, 200421 yr Thanks for the reply Laurie, so not everyone uses this software due to the cost I guess, jets must be at quite different speeds on the vatsim network makes it interesting for the controllers i suppose. Is FSmeteo a small program to download does it create much of a drag on the computer when it's running or can use it on another networed computer to save resources. Thanks for the info Laurie, FSMeteo sounds good I think I'll get it!Jeff Kittelty/YMML
August 30, 200421 yr yeah its small & hardly uses any system resources (doesn't even list any CPU percentage when in use), you can of course run it on a networked PC using WideFS / FSUIPC.have a look at www.fsmeteo.com for more info.
