Question RE: Dual AP operation on PMDG737

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I can't seem to engage the 2nd Autopilot on approach mode on the PMDG737 (hence no autoland, and I read, no GA mode) Does anyone here have similar problems?Oh.. hehe and about TOGA. I'm reading from a manual this.. "TOGA requires dual AP operation and cannot be engaged until FLARE (on FMA) is annunciated or after touchdown" I interpret it as this.. since FLARE is annunciated at 50ft AGL, then if I decide to GA, I have to wait between 50ft and the ground?whoa. COuld someone please enlighten me on this? many thanks!mike

I'm reading from a manual this..>"TOGA requires dual AP operation and cannot be engaged until>FLARE (on FMA) is annunciated or after touchdown"According to our manuals, FLARE annunciation should be seen when you have captured loc and glideslope and you are at 1500' (plus about 10 seconds). Any time after this you can make an autopilot coupled Go-Around. A Flight Director-guided GA can be done below 2000' Radio Altitude. You can't make an A/P-coupled GA after you have hit the runway (and your wheels have spun up). Once you are on the ground, pushing the TOGA switch will disengage both A/P's. According to our manuals, after you are on the ground... "...the F/D and A/T G/A do not change".I assume this means a normal Flight Director-assisted type takeoff follows (which seems odd, as the A/T should trip off two seconds after touchdown).Any takers on this one?Thanks.Cheers.Ian>

Just to be sure (although I don't think this is the problem here, since Ian can't engage AP 2 at all!) but you shouldn't forget that you have to engage the 2nd AP ABOVE 800 ft, otherwise you won't be able anymore to engage BOTH AP's!
