I am now creating my own flight plans but have a small problem.Is there a recommended height/distance/angle away from arrival to lock onto the vor -I seem to be too high and overfly the runway.Also my plan seems to put end of descent at the runway -is this correct??Bernie Lonnen

Hi Bernie,are you planning a VOR approach ?If the VOR is placed at the end of the runway and assuming a runway length of 3000m (=1.6NM) and a theoretical threshold crossing height of 50 ft, you should plan to be at about 3000 ft AGL at 12 NM from the VOR...Anyway, much better and safer to plan using the relevant approach charts !!!Yes, the E/D at the runway is correct.
