Graphical Problems in FS2004

Featured Replies

Hi,Could anyone please help me with this problem. The texture on the ground is big areas with no textures, this does not happen all over, but can suddenly appear in some areas. It can be both sea and land areas. If it is land, the base color is usually different shades of green(only one color in one area) and sea is blue. Tried very much with no success. Changed settings in FS2004 and tried one other thing I found in the forum-----------------------------The problem is FS2004 requires much more memory than FS2002 then throwing on top this aircraft you need all the memory you can get. The reason your loosing textures is due to memory. I had this same issue happen with other addon aircraft in FS2004.The solution I found and have not seen it happen since is this:Right Click My ComputerGo to PropertiesGo to Advanced TabClick Settings Button under PerformanceClick Advanced TabUnder Memory Usage change to Programs Do not use system cache. This is all under XP PRO.-----------------------------This did not help ether!!!Does anyone have a clue, any help would be appreciated. There is no problem in FS2002My system is AMD 2500+ CPU, 768Mb ram, ATI radeon 9800ProTor-Einar(how do I take screenshots in FS?)

Hi,About your settings changes, movig to Program from System Cache does not mean do not use system cache. It just means more attention will be provided to the programs rather than the system cache. It will not change anything.Even having quite enough RAM hich you currently have FS2004 can be problematic. If you take those setting a bit further that is Right Click My ComputerGo to PropertiesGo to Advanced TabClick Settings Button under PerformanceClick Advanced TabUnder Virtual Memory click ChangeSelect the drive you've got FS2004 installed on and set a paging file.click custom Size and in the first box enter 256 and i the second box enter 512This however could more likely help your textures appear. But what I've lately seen happen on my system has been quite an eyeopener for me. I have very less RAM, only 256mb to contend with and I usually had textures blurring and half not appearing when there is high demand on memory, so I just set my AGP Aperture size to the minimum and it's been much better since. Although this probably won't work for everyone, it's worth a try.(AGP aperture setting need to be done in BIOS, if you are not comfortable doing it, don't bother with it)

Hi, Thanks for the reply, setting the virtual memory didn't help. But I will try to change the AGP Aperture tomorrow. Hope this will help. The reason I changed the settings to Programs, was because of a hint I got beacuse the textures of my PMDG 737NG didn't show, it helped for that problem.thansks for the reply, will post the result here.Tor-Einar
