September 10, 200421 yr I realize that these questions have probably been asked billions of time, and I've spent countless hours using the search function, but I've got a few questions about the PMDG 737-600/700 before I fork over my $40.1.)Will it run acceptably on my system: 1.5GHz P4 1024Mhz RAM 64Mg Nvidia Geforce 2 Soundblaster Live! I'm particularly concerned about the Soundcard. I've purchased other addons and some complex freeware (tinmouse.org 732 panel) where I get a static buzz over the speakers when I switch views, but I'm wondering if anyone's had this issue with the PMDG and if so, did you get it fixed in any way?2.)Does the hydraulic system keep the controls from moving if it's off? I.E.-If the engines are off, and the hydraulic system off, will the controls move?3.)Anything else you'd like to add on this add on...Thanks very much,Evan Levesque
September 10, 200421 yr Hi Evan - sounds like an OK system but some of the more well known hardware gurus around here will give better advice than I can. One thing you might want to add is which OS you are using. In terms of the sim itself: I am an ex 737-200ADV driver in real life, and purchased PMDG's 600/700 offering. Having little to know FMC experience in RL initially I purchased Aerowinx's 747-PS1 (I MIGHTLY heavy investment here in Australia). I much prefer PMDG's offering as is does do very well if you want a mix of visual/procedural training. Reality wise two friends of mine that fly the NG's in came over the other day and said it was 95% there - the only things they said were a couple of "missing" FMC functions (Offsets etc - but you can get all that with the 800/900 add-on from the site), the lack of WX display on the ND (available with some kind of add-on I believe [Note to fellow PMDG lovers - could someone post a link to this pls]), and that it felt a bit heavy (that's probably my lame-duck MS Sidewinder joyfull stick!!).My recommendation: BUY!!!!Hope this helps - Chardy
September 10, 200421 yr Hi,I'm also recommend you to buy and fly 737-600/700 or 800/900 PMDG,and sure you will love it, for weather display ,i purchase CWR(common weather radar) to monitor the detail cloud and thunderstorm at least 80-160nm infont so that i can re plan my vector route.my spec almost similar that yours, pentium 4, 1.6GhzIntel D845HV motherboard640MB SDRAMATI 9600XT Bravo 256MB
September 10, 200421 yr Hey there,My recomendation is to buy! It's THE BEST bird I've ever flown in Flight Sim. And to tell you the truth - it's now the only one I now fly! I love it so much. I don't think you'd have any probs with your specs...just look at mine! ; ) I get slow framerates (usually arund the 18 FPS range)....even though I'd like faster speeds, I can get away with what I've got since all I'm really after is a realistic sim experience - I mostly looking INSIDE the cabin, not outside! September 10, 200421 yr >2.)Does the hydraulic system keep the controls from moving if>it's off? I.E.-If the engines are off, and the hydraulic>system off, will the controls move?1. Unfortunately I can't remember exactly what it was, but if I'm not mistaken I wanted to turn on the AP after take off and something just didn't work. I started a dive... Then I discovered I still had both HYD A pumps off... I turned them on and everything was alright again! As I said: don't know exactly anymore WHAT went wrong, but without the HYDS on the stuff that needs them will not work! Just like in real life!2. 1. It's awesome. The best add-on ever (thus far). I bouht the 800/900 add-on too.
September 10, 200421 yr The HYDs A & B power all the controls, BUT in case of total HYD failure, you can operate manually but with higher forces...And in the "receiving aircraft checklist" (as depicted in the 737 AOM), there is a check if HYD pumps are ON and if the Flt controls switch is also ON.
September 10, 200421 yr Want to buy the best add-on ever for MSFS, get the PMDG737. If you are like me, you will probably wind up flying it 100% of the time, when using FS.
September 10, 200421 yr Don't hesitate to buy. It is the best add on available.I used to run a similar system but with 512RAM. As long as I flew in 2D panel views and kept the FS sliders down she was absolutely fine.Go for it, and get the 800/900.Best RegardsBoone,[email protected]"Flying a plane is no different from riding a bicycle. September 10, 200421 yr Hi Evan,I had the same sound problem with other add-ons (PSS) but it was a driver problem. The latest driver from www.creative.com was the solution (not the latest windowsupdate driver). The 737NG will run acceptably on your system. After optimizing my system and FS, I get about 14FPS, a few less with the virtual cockpit. This is OK for my IFR flights. My system specs:P3-850MHz, 512Mb RAM, GeForce3 64Mb, Asus P3BF, SB Live Platinium 5.1, USR 56K modem WinXP Pro FR, DirectX 9.0c, Nvidia 61.77 FS2004 US, FSUIPC 3.30 reg, ActiveCamera 2004, FSNav...This add-on rocks... and I'm happy with it.Georges - IVAO Id 145418http://ggka.online.fr/ia/logos/iaslogo.gif ISO658F - http://isomba.airlines.online.fr/http://isomba.airlines.online.fr/pictures/uas.gif UAS104 (Staff) - http://www.uas-va.org/
September 27, 200421 yr Buy it !Your system is similar to mine and should run Ok. I get f/rs at about 20/30 usually but I am considering upping my Nvidia 64K graphics card to a 256 as it get a bit jerky when I'm landing. As long as you don't want to just jump in and fly, this 737 is brilliant. I've also got A320 PIC but I could never get on with it - I don't think i ever successfully completed a flight due to FMC problems mainly due to the awful and complex manuals. The 737NG is much better and the documentation is much easier to follow.
