I know the answer to 1 (perhaps 2 if I had a picture :)).The green arc indicates the projected point in space where you will reach the expected altitude you've dialed in the MCP given current conditions. If you are in LNAV mode, that will be the point where the green arc crosses the magenta line.It may or may not be visible depending on your scale setting.
