October 21, 200421 yr LOL ... you seem to think having an airliners range extended is a walk in the park. To extend an aircraft to new limitations requires a lot of testing before it is declared worthy of actually being able to fly within it's new extended limitations which stays within the safety boundaries among many many other things. For PMDG on the other hand, getting the FDE right will be a tedious part. But maybe they will get it done. So way for their response .. :)
October 21, 200421 yr >the difference is really small. What about the extra fuel "pump" switches on the overhead panels? (and repositioning of the old ones) The impossibly complex fuel feed system for the Aux fuel tank? (which uses cabin differential pressure for certain phases of flight) The different EICAS FUEL synoptics & logic? The reprogrammed Fuel Jettison system? The different weight and balance with fuel usage? The updated EFIS PLAN displays? (a-la 737NG) The LCD MCP displays? The different-shaped MCP knobs? The new grab handles on the glareshield? The FMC reprogramming? The new cabin interior? The larger wheels? The different-shaped fairing panels on top of the engines? The different Instrument Source Select Switch selections? The Integrated Standby Flight Instrument Display? The dedicated battery (logic) for this? The non-CRT cockpit displays? The titanium cargo sidewall panels? The auto scanning radar? The extra pay you have to give to your engineers for working on these aircraft?(note how I slipped that in) The..... (stop me if I've said all these things before folks)Apart from that, there are very few differences ;-)Hope I've clarified it for you, Alex? Cheers.Ian R>
