AirCon prob after turn around

Featured Replies

Hey all,I'm getting the off sched descent light coming on after a turn around. The situation today:YMML - YPAD, cruise alt of FL320, landing elev 20, Flight went without a hitch. After landing at Adelaide I shut down the engines and stayed on APU power and proceded to set up a flight to Sydney at FL 350. I reset the pressurization controller cruise alt setting to 35000 and left the landing elev a 0 (Kingsford elevation 21).Everything was set up and I taxied out and took off. As soon as the mains lifted I got the aircon warning come up on the master annunciator. After flying the first 5000ft of the departure I switched over to the AP and went to check out the warning which was the off sched descent light. The pressure gauges were showing that the system was working correctly (or as well as it normally does, I've read that there are problems with this system) so I just left it alone. The light went out after I'd reached FL350 and descent worked as per usual. My questions are:Why this is happening? How do I fix it?What is the proper procedure for turn arounds and the pressurization system?I didn't turn the packs off at anytime through landing, stop over and departure. Could this be the cause?CheersDavid

I am unsure about proper procedure, but to clear the off-shed-desc warning light you can set the pressurization cruise alt controller below your current altitude and then back to your cruise altitude (or leave it below if you have descended early for any reason). In your case MSFS may have changed the air pressure and the aircraft systems interpreted this as a descent when you took off, just a guess though, hope it helpscheers, Nick

Hey Nick,Thanks for the reply.I guess it could be a pressure change but I doubt there would be a significant enough change in pressure over the short time I was on the ground that would cause the problem. I was only on the deck for around 10-15 mins and reset the baro before engine start. What I don't get is that it works just fine right down to landing but has an error when I take off again.I had a read throught the pressurization section of the AOM (real life that is) but couldn't find anything relevant to this problem.According to the AOM the light should only come on if you start your descent before reaching cruise altitude.I'll look again to see if I can find a stop over checklist or something like that.Cheers,David

I have had this same thing happend to me on occasion and haven't been able to come up with a solution other than just extinguishing the warning light and continuing the flight.

Hey Bob,Yep, that's exactly what I did. It was pressurizing just fine so I left it alone. After I got to cruise altitude I tried the master recall and the warning was gone.David
