PIREP - the GoFlight GF46 module and the PMDG

Featured Replies

BAShort and sweet, I purchased my first GoFlight Module - a GF46 multifunction display. The unit has two display windows - the left window is a four character alpha numeric, and the right window is 8 numerals. There's a white button and then two concentric knobs, sort of like an aircraft radio.Using the GFConfig software, I set the white button to be a function selector and then the other knobs change the values. Here's what works and doesn't in the default aircraft and PMDG...Function ValueCom1 Adjusts radio frequency, works in PMDGCom2 Adjusts radio frequency, works in PMDGNav1 Adjusts radio frequency, works in PMDGNav2 Adjusts radio frequency, works in PMDGNM 1 DME Readout for NAV1, works in PMDG (rotating knobs alters DME/KTS display)NM 2 DME Readout for NAV2, works in PMDGADF ADF frequency, works in PMDGXPDR Sets Transponder, works in PMDGALTM Sets Altimeter, works in PMDG (does not change when you hit STD) (also sets heading card, and other instrument functions - most of which don't work in PMDG)CRS Sets AP CRS, does not work 100% in PMDG (changes made on the CRS selector in the sim are reflected in the display, but not vice versa) (also can set heading, speed, alt, and VS in default aircraft)I'm encouraged by this - the GF product is very nice. I'm going to buy some more modules to run other functions - using FSUIPC's ability to map switch settings and knob turns to keystrokes, I can access all the PMDG functions except some of the FMC functions. So if any of you were wondering about GoFlight products, they're very nice and do work (with some limitations) with our favorite aircraft.

TimHave to agree with you. I have a full range of GoFlight modules and they add a great deal to the pleasure of simming in all planes. Can't quite understand your prob with Altimeter. All works fine for me with PMDG. As you know there are two assignments, Alt STD and Alt Master. The latter is functional below transition altitude and using it maintains correctly any changes in pressure. At transition, the STD function sets 2992. When descending below TA, revert to Alt Master.Bud
