The Perfect Flight

Featured Replies

Did you ever have a perfect flight with a Flight Sim. Well today, my flight from Salt Lake to Seattle with the updated FS9.1 was just about perfect. I had installed an 2004.5 update to Active Sky yesterday, but was a little confused as to whether I need it or not, since I had a Beta version of 2004.5. Anyway, it installed, so I decided to see if I noticed any difference in the clouds, between the new version and that Beta . Wow!!!!! Couldn't believe the difference. I flew out of Salt Lake and the clouds were Spectacular. Soon I was over an overcast, and guess what, it was really an overcast!!!!!!!!. Unlike the FS9 overcast were you can see through to the ground and there are just a few clouds sprinkled around, this was a solid overcast. Everyonce in awhile there would be a very small hole in the clouds where you could see the ground, just like the real thing. I have a PCI video card on my PC, and I have everything cranked down as far as clouds and it still looks great. It must be mind blowing if you have a good AGP card or PCI express and can crank the cloud layer options up. I then flew over the mountains into Washington State and clear weather over the mountains went back to the overcast again. Descending to around 9,000, right into the soup again , and as I got lower, it got darker. Could not see the ground at all. Flew the ILS to 16L, with a 1500 Ceiling at KSEA, and the TCAS showed a aircraft in front of me on the approach and one in back. ATC was talking to all three of us and I jockeyed my Flap and airspeed settings to get a good placement between the 2 other planes. I flared and dropped the nose wheel right on the white centerline. I played that replay about 15 times :) After I landed I was thinking about the add-ons I have purchased for FS9 and how I enjoy each and everyone of them. What a great program MS has made that allows programmers to develope these great add-ons that we can add as we go along. As I taxied back to the Ramp behind the Ultimate Traffic United Airlines Heavy, I was trying to figure out where I could fly next......Too Many Airports, Too Little Time
