Question about FSNav, Stars and ATC.

Hey guys..I just got hold of FSNav with the intention of adding SID/STARS to my flight plans for more realism. Good program overall. The problem, question I have is how best to setup for the STAR/runway at the destination. I just flew from YMML to YSSY. I'm using some modified AFCADs to enable landing/take off on all runways. So I do my flight plan in FSNav and export to the FMC. The plan is to take off from 27, fly up to YSSY and land on 34L. I take off and fly a wonderful flight. All good so far. After starting my descent, i tune into ATIS at YSSY to get wind information. Low and behold it turns out landing on 34L would be a suicide in the current wind. So I request and get from the controller runway 7. Problem now is, I've got all my STAR information setup in the FMC for 34L. I can easily go to FSNav and redo the approach for runway 7, but the FMC won't let me load in the new FSNav flight plan. I tried to delete the existing waypoints in the RTE function, but they wouldn't move either. So at the end of the day, I found myself 40 miles out and off track for approach to either runway. Am i doing something wrong here, or missing something obvious?Oh and also, since installing FSNav, whenever I go to load my PMDG aircraft, FS9.1 crashes. If i tick the "restart" option and re-load it, it runs fine. The error message says its a confligth in the PMDG_main.gau file, or something similar. Anybody else had this??Thanks guysKael

I have FS Nav with PMDG and no problem crashing , so I can't help you there. As far as the STARS, I have the same problem. You are normally not going to know the landing runway until ATC tells you on approach so loading a STAR in when doing your flight plan is not realistic in my opinion, so I just don't use the STARS in FSNav.

May I humbly suggest throwing FSNAV out teh window. If you want realsim.. and that is why we fly PMDG, then use teh FMS as it is done in the real aeroplane. It has everything you need and is way faster and has no glitches in it.Rgds,

Just follow the atc vectors to new runway and dial that rwy into dep/arr page, not forgetting to re-tune both nav rads.

Thanks for the responses guys. The SID/STARS was the whole reason i got FSNav. i realise you can program the FMC with these, but unless I'm mistaken, you can't export from the FMC to FS9? Using FSNAv, i at least had ATC giving me instructions to follow my SID whereas if I put one into the FMC and program a direct flight plan in the FS9 planner, they contine telling me to "turn right .. blah blah degrees" until i finish with the SID and get back on the plan.Maybe I'm making a big deal outa nothing. Thanks anyway..Cheers,Kael

It has saved me a couple of times in the last week alone, with providing ILS Frequencies both in Europe and the US that were not listed in the FMC. I know, I know, I am supposed to have my entire hourse filled up with approach plates, for every airport in the entire world.... etc..etc..blah..blah.. Forget about it!!! By the way, number of glitches that I have discovered in FS Nav in months of using it every day is pretty close to zero. Way fewer than the FMC glitches that I have run into in the same time frame.
