Descent and ILS

Featured Replies

I am still trying to learn how to fly the 737. I flew the tutorial flight perfectly with a successful autoland but am having trouble with my own flights. The take-off, climb, and cruise portions of my flights all go smoothly. When I get to the descent I have problems. Recently on a flight from IAH to ORD in the 737-700 the autopilot did not descend early enough and I was over the airport when I finally reached the glidelope altitude. This has happened several times. Also, on the rare occasions I am low enough, I have trouble intercepting the glideslope. On the flight mentioned above I hand flew the plane back out to the beginning of the glideslope and engaged APP mode but the plane ignored it and shut it off. I ended up hand flying the landing after several passes buzzing the tower (my hand flown landing was quite excellent by the way). What am I doing wrong?P.S. How can I fly my programmed flightplans with the default ATC? Any tips on this? I use FSBuild Payware version to make my flightplans. Thanks,Jared

And before you ask, yes, the ILS Frequency was programmed into NAV1 and 2.Jared

Enter descent constraints for the fixes on the STAR. In my experience that fixes all descent issues.

How do you figure out what the descent constraints are? Where do I look for these?Jared
