Fire Alarm Bell Malfunction

Featured Replies

Frequently, but not always, when I check the fire supression system during my pre-flight the alarm light goes on but the bell doesn't sound. I depress the Fire Alarm button and it clears the light as usual. Any suggestions as to what might be causing this? It appears to be a random anomoly. All other sounds appear to be working properly.

Hi,I do have the same phenomenon and in fact if you search hard you'll find my mentioning this in a thread somewhere in the summer of 2003 :-) However, in my case it only happens when I use my 2nd monitor for the overhead panel and the throttles, so I have always assumed that it has something to do with that. But don't ask me how.Leo Bakker

Turn on just the battery power and immediately do your fire test. 100% reproducible.--Gregg Schoenberger

Exactly! Flip that one switch and then go to the throttle panel to do your test.--Gregg Schoenberger

Well, I'll be flipped! Apparently, on occasion I forget to reset the Standby Power swith and go through the alarm test.:+Thanks.
