March 28, 200521 yr Hey everyone whats up?I finally upgraded my 737 to the 800/900 and i think its fantastic! I am having a problem with it though. The VNAV speeds wont set and the aircraft thinks it should have a really low airspeed in the climb, and it wont set an airspeed in cruise either. Before i say anymore i will say that i did a search through the forums and found alot of similar questions.. but not exactly what im lookin for.Im used to using the old version when programming the fmc. So when i get in the 800 with the new panel, i set up my flight, put in the weight, routing waypoints, just like i used to in the old version. I enter my cruise altitude on the init reference page, then i go to the climb page and enter my cruising altitude there, and hit EXECUTE. Then i go and Take off. As i climb away from the runway, i engage the autopilot, and auto throttle, select heading mode to maintain runway heading, and i engage VNAV to start my climb. When i do this, for some reason my speed bug is WAY down there at 0 or something, and the aircraft climbs and then stalls. Because it thinks it should be flying at 0kts. I check the climb page and it says i should be doing 250kts, up to 10000 and then faster above 10,000. but the speed bug never moves and correctly sets in the climb. and i therefore have to set it manually and use auto throttle with the speed function instead of VNAV. In cruise, the airspeed never sets correctly either and i have to manually set the cruise speed in the MCDU as well. Sorry for the long post but i wanted to make sure i worded my question correctly. So is there something different i need to do with this new panel? Or do i just have something that needs fixing. Thanks for your help!Kris
