PMDG: 32mb Savior!

Featured Replies

I have learned a lot about computers since I bought my first: A Dell Inspiron 8200 a bit over two years ago. One thing I learned is to beware buying what you think is just a game on a CD, as I innocently thought of FS2002. Now, I am deep into FS9, and finally realize some of the limitations of my computer, which I am generally very happy with. The big limitation is the 32mb video card, which accounts for most of the woes I have had with add-on's I impulsively purchased, and some of which I cannot use. The 1.8ghz chip and 512mb RAM are still enough to squeeze performance from, but the 32mb video card has curtailed my urge to shop. I had given up on big, pretty planes until I can upgrade in a few years, after indentured servitude to my son's university. However, my happy experiences with PMDG's B1900D (and now, the C), and my fortunate stumbling across the Simmers Sky MD-11 led me to read the specs on PMDG's future MD-11, and, in turn, their B747. I was pleasantly surprised! I am hoping the system requirements don't change, because I believe my system can actually handle those big birds as they are projected.I have even stepped backwards to the PSS Dash-8 to get the feel of a FMC in anticipation of the big PMDG birds.Thank you, PMDG for the ride. The PMDG products I have so far have provided a large bang for the small bucks involved. I am looking forward to the new releases, and I am hoping the 32mb spec doesn't change.I would be interested in hearing about other offerings that have the low video card requirement, too. I have the DF B727, and am having some fun and interesting times with that.Enough blathering here - gotta get to work!TGIF to all! - Steve
