FMC Error message

Today I have been getting an error message in the 737 FMC when I load the aircraft and before entering anything into the FMC. It says something like Error at XXXX: The XXXX is an intersection close to the runway the aircraft was on and I can't remember just which one it was right now. I am guessing and saying that the nav database is damaged so I have just updated the airac to the latest version. Hopefully that will put a stop to this problem. Any comments?David

Hi David. Both the AIRAC and the SIDs/STARs/IAPs can produce problems somewhat like you describe. To pin it down I need more info to help understand what is going on. 1. What ICAO was involved? 2. Did you get the error when you entered the departure or the arrival airport? 3. What was the exact error message so I know what to look for.4. Is the cycle number of the AIRAC the same as the SIDs/STARs/IAPs you are using? Mismatched cycles can cause a problem. You might also benefit by reading the Troubleshooting Hints section of my "How to Make Terminal Procedures" tutorial at http://home.sw.rr.com/filesherenow/html/pmdg_utilities.html.RegardsTerry

TerryThanks for the speedy response. After reading your post I loaded up the latest Airac + latest sids & stars then opened FS9 and all is well. For what it was/is worth the error appeared before I entered anything in the FMC. All I did was open it up and the error appeared. Another point to note is that it was a waypoint which was not in the default FS9 database and was in the airac data only. Anyway now it should all be in sync (hopefully) and it appears as if it is working ok.David
