I was on finals last night for an autoland all was fine except the CWS P message suddenly lit up - what's this for please ? Also when I took off from NZAA the ILS frequency on the guage was shown in yellow and crossed out - never seen this before. Any idea what it means anyone ?

>I was on finals last night for an autoland all was fine>except the CWS P message suddenly lit upControl Wheel Steering. The FMS activates the CWS when, while on an automatic mode (like any Vnav, Lnav, Hdg, etc), you move the yoke more then X degrees for more then Y seconds. This way you can, for example, have the FMS manage the vertical path while you manually do the turns (CWS P activated).I dunno the exact values of X and Y.I don't know about your second question.

Any idea what it means anyone ?As mentioned, the pitch mode changed to control wheel steering - which means that the system thought you had moved the yoke in the pitch axis. The yellow-and-struck-through ILS frequency/heading on the PFD occurs whenever:you don't have both nav receivers tuned; ORyour MCP course disagrees with the FMC database course for the frequency.Since you took off, you may have ended up with a course error, particularly if the runway uses the same localizer frequency for both ends.
