August 4, 200520 yr Hello all,A great plane you have built here. Simply fantastic. Currently flying from KLAX-KMIA, over the Gulf of Mexico right now, heading towards BLVNS on the Q102.I have a question, which the manual did not answer. On the PFD, right next to the altitude tape is a yellow message saying "NO TDZ". What does this mean?
November 8, 200520 yr Hello "psaul"Just for your next post: We sign our posts with our real names. You should do this too.Now to your question: NO TDZ means you havn't selected a runway for your landing yet. Since the 747-400 is doing cabin presurisation all by itself you have to give him the three basic infos for calculationDeparture elevation --> Is known since the plane is already standing there before take off! ;-)Cruise altitude --> Is recived from de performance page of your FMCArrival elevation --> The system knows the airport altitude since you have chosen a destination airport but the exact runway elevation is unknown unless you choose a runway form the DEP/ARR page of your FMC.By the way "TDZ" stands for TOUCH DOWN ZONE! :-)Hope this answers your questionCheersMartin
November 9, 200520 yr I thought it would be helpful to note that the 747 wants to know which runway to land on also because without that it won't be able to fly an approach / select STARs and do an AUTOLAND. :-)- Neeraj Pendse
