Autopilot Coming Out...

Recommended Posts

About to Disconnect the Autopilot, enjoy;

EDIT: Image way larger than our policy. Please read our image restrictions before posting again.

One question though, if I'm flying with the autopilot engaged in V/S the aircraft struggles to maintain commanded V/S in turns, particularly in a descending turn. Anyone else notice that?Regards,PaulP.S. How's that patch comming along?

Sure Alex. A typical situation I see this is when I'm vectoring myself onto an ILS (or by ATC.) Say I'm descending in V/S at -500FPM, wings level. If I then select a turn of 90 degrees right/left during the turn (typically a Base turn, speed ~200knots) I've noticed an increase in the rate of descent. Once it hit -1500fpm and I had to disconnect the autopilot. Also rolling wings level after the turn it might undershoot the target V/S. I think the time it hit -1500fpm I had pretty low fps so it maybe related?Regards,PaulP.S. It's good to be back at Avsim! :-)
