I've been wanting to head south to Chicago's O'Hare airport and just "watch airplanes." But as I recall from many years ago, there used to be small observation decks above the terminals where folks could do just that.I believe they have closed those decks since 9/11.Anybody know of a spot(s) around or at O'Hare where I can legally spend and afternoon watching the big iron do their thing?ThanksRick

Anywhere on Amnheim rd or Irving park road (depending o what runways they are using). Rosemont is another good place. Lots of places to park and observe.Be observant of security though. I was out on Manheim Rd with my brother watching planes land a few weeks ago and someone called the cops. They came by and asked for IDs, ran checks on us and then left us alone. It's a cool place to watch and if you have a scanner it's even better.

Rich. when you say "on Manheim Rd." are you saying you just pulled over on the shoulder and parked? Can you do that? I thought Manheim is a very busy road.Trev. You talking about Rosemont parking lot?Rick
