I'd say most people at this stage use a program called FS Build. It will automatically send the flightplan into your FMC so you can setup and go fairly easy.

There is also a freeware program available at AVSIM called ".PLN to .RTE" (V1.0.1 is current). It will convert FS9 flight planner plans into the ".RTE" format that the PMDG FMC recognizes.
