Ok, I just bought a used FF2 joystick to try my hand at the combat sims for a change from fs2002. The device uses a USB port and I didn't think there would be any software necessary. None came with the joystick.I have a VIA chipset which apparently requires a software update (provided from MS) for the FF2 joystick to work with the chipset. This is available at the Sidewinder site. The problem is that when I try to install the update, it tells me that I must install the controller's software. Where do I get this software? I see version 3.02 at the MS Sidewinder site but it appears to be used for the older versions of Sidewinder and for the Win95 and Win98 O/S -- I have XP.Does software exist for the FF2 joystick and is there any way to download it?!!! David

XP comes with the joystick software already to go. Just go to control panel/joysticks/autodetect and you should be good to go.

Contact Microsoft... You'll need the Part Number (P/N) off the bottom of the joystick. I did the same thing with the VIA chipset problem. ---DO NOT--- tell them that you bought it used. I just said that I moved and during the move, I broke the CD in a box or something. They sent a whole new program CD out to me absolutely free. Msft is very good at customer support in my opinion.
