How does the APR button work. ? *newbie* question

Featured Replies

Im almost fammiliar with all the functions thar the AP has but not the APR button. I know that it shoul put you on glideslope and so on says the manual but not how to use it and where to configure it.Please help me

The APR button has no "configuration" as it were. The function is for the autopilot to capture the glideslope and localizer. Simply tune your NAV1 radio to the ILS freq for the runway to which you're headed. Hit the APR button. You do need to be at a reasonable intercept angle (between 15 and 30 degrees in my experience) and far enough out that you don't wind up weaving back and forth to capture the localizer properly. You must also be below the glideslope for that to capture. Word has it that you must also be at a reasonable approach speed to capture the glideslope, else you may go blasting right on through.Keep in mind that unless you've got an autoland on the aircraft that you will need to take control of the plane once you're at a couple hundred feet or so and hand fly the last part of the approach.

Thanks for your quick answer. Strange only that I couldnt find anything about it in the manual.
