CAPTURING THE LOCALIZER ON 747

HI, I JUST PURCHASED THIS NEW 747-400 PMDG PRODUCT AND I JUST WANT TO NOW WHEN DO I SWITCH ON THE LOC. FREQUENCY. SOMETIMES I DONT CAPTURE IT EVEN THOUGH I SET UP THE APPROACH AND THE RWY TO LAND. HOW FAR DO I HAVE TO BE TO CAPTURE THE SIGNAL OR WHAT DO I NEED TO PRESS? PLEASE HELP

Well, you can't capture the localizer until it becomes active. That distance varies from airport to airport. At LAX it reaches out past 20 miles, while at others it is 15 miles or even less. But a good rule of thumb is to plan to capture at 15 miles. Ensure that your intercept angle is around 30 degrees, and that your atlitude is low enough so that you intercept the localizer prior to glideslpoe becoming active. Once you are on your intercept course press the LOC button. It will capture the localizer. When the glide slope activates press APP. It works just fine for me. If you have selected your STAR and runway, then you should be able to see the ILS freq and course by pressing the RAD button. If you are beyond the range of the localizer it will show as PARKED.
