Painting tools ??

Featured Replies

HI everybodyI would like to know which king of tool it's necessary to repaint the Opensky A330 (Gmax)Thanks for helpDomm

Photoshop is the King of Painting tools, and it would work just fine for repainting any aircraft .As to the particular *kind* of painting tool, you need a bitmap paint program (most painting programs are, as opposed to vector paint tools like Illustrator).

Mike has it right all 'round. There are a number of things you want to look for.First, you'll need a bitmap conversion program to change files from the type of image that FS uses to something that a graphics application can open. Although the files FS uses are CALLED .bmp files, they're slightly different. In the AVSim library, you should be able to find something called DXTBMP, which is a fantastic and easy-to-use conversion program. It even lets you import and export those all-important Alpha Channels. To edit the bitmaps, you want a program that will let you work in layers, so that you can keep different elements (paint schemes, shadowing, etc.) separate until you're ready to form the final image.Photoshop (expensive at $6-700, but there's a $100 version called Photoshop Elements which has all the features you'd need to use) does all of this and does it well. Paint Shop Pro costs about the same and has a similar feature set to Photoshop Elements. In terms of Freeware, you can get the GIMP (don't have an address on hand, but it's a Windows port of Linux-based graphics software ... a Photoshop work-alike).Hope this helps.--Tony
