737 Next Generation Autoland

Featured Replies

Hi I have the 737 Next Generation from PMDG. I was wondering can you autoland this plane? I have the PMDG 747 400 also and can autoland it how do I autoland the 737? Thanks for any help.Fred

Fred,Autolands like a dream !! and it's well documented in the manual. in a nutshell:-1. Tune BOTH nav radios to the ILS frequency.2. Set BOTH the CRSE box and the HDG box on the glareshield to the runway heading - note use the one shown in the Approach page of the FMC which is usually a couple of degress different to those shown on charts (magnetic variation I think).3. Ensure the FMC shows the right height for the FAP as shown on the landing chart.4. When the aircraft approaches the right heading to intercept the extended runway centreline, make sure the CMD1 is active, hit the APP button (the PFD will show Single Channel) and then hit the CMD2 buttonand wait, the aircarft will then capture the localiser and the PFD will flash CMD with yellow dots on both the glideslope side and the bottom of the PFD.I have assumed that you have controlled your speed and flaps etc properly in the descent and approach - it should then land a treat. Hit the deck, put the nose down and select reverse thrust and brakes.Ladies and gentlemen on behalf of the crew, welcome to XYZ !!
