August 26, 200619 yr I've now spent about a month flying the B1900 C and D simulations which are, in general, excellent. As reviewers have noted, the B1900 is a representative commuter aircraft and much fun to fly---hence its success. A couple of comments though:1. The 1900D 2D panel (based in the FS9 King Air) is not nearly as satisfactory in most respects as the 1900C. The only 1900C's main drawback is that all the A/P functions are on the throttle quadrant, which must be brought up for climb/descent instructions. Ideally, a new "D" would combine the C's panel with the A/P functions squeezed in under the A/P annunciator.2. For some reason, while the "C" has a functioning OAT guage, the "D" does not---important for judging icing conditions. Equally, the "C" icing lights work and the wing boots can be seen from the pilot's rear quarter window. Wouldn't it be nice if prop and wing icing were simulated (eg, between 0-min17C when in cloud) and wing boots made functional.3. A slightly more realistic rendition of electrical systems (enabling the standard start and check procedures to be used) would be nice too.4. The "D's" A/P is dismal (even after patching); localiser capture badly needs adjustment. Those squawks apart, the B1900 series remains a real treat for the puddle jumping turboprop pilot (which is where most airline aspirants spend their early years).
