Performance question

Recommended Posts

Guest cocoarevo

I'm sure this sort of question is tiresome, so I'll be brief. Several years ago, I jumped ship to Mac. This, of course, meant that I almost entirely stopped using FS. Now, though, I'm preparing to buy a new Mac. Thanks to the wonders of the Intel transition, I plan to get back into it, and experience the wonders of that gorgeous 747 I've been drooling over for years. My question is this: with the specs below, would the 747 perform tolerably with reasonable detail in FSX, or should I stick with FS9 (since I haven't touched it since FS2K, that would still be a step up for me).iMac 24"3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo4GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM500GB 7200 rpm SATA driveGeForce 8800 GS 512MB GDDR3Screen is 1920x1200 nativeI know everyone asks this, and that the definition of "reasonable" is of course highly subjective, but I feel that I should get some general idea of performance since I basically have to buy one version or the other of the 747.Thanks for your time,Will

Hi,I run FSX with the PMDG 747 on my MacBook Pro 2.16GHz Core Duo, 1GB 667GHz SDRAM with reasonable performance (under WinXP). I have most FSX performance controls on medium settings.I guess the machine you think of will perform very good.RegardsClemens
