pipe thingy under tail of 767-300er

Featured Replies

Has anyone else noticed a pipe with open door located under the tail of the Posky 767-300er? What is this? air supply of some sort? and how do you shut it?Z

Hi,I think it is the supply to APU you may close it with ctr+shift cand open with ctr+shift v. You must do it at least 3 time becauseit has diferent positions.Have funJoao

Hi,I believe the "thingy" you are refering to is to avoid a tail scrapein the event of an over-rotation by the pilot upon takeoff. This prevents the actual fuselage from hitting the ground and subsequently absorbs some of the forces thus avoiding even more expensive repairs. I'm not quite sure but I think that this in only available on the -300 model.regards.Rhys lszh

Hi,the "thingy" is officially called TAILSKID (only 767-300), its purpose is to prevent or minimize the effect of strucrural damage in case of a tailstrike. Extension/retraction is together with "normal" gear operation.Hope it helps.Rgds Klaus
