July 15, 200223 yr This message is adressed to those among us who love to fly whether it be virtually or in real life. I am adding this post in this forum because I know of the excellent products provided by Wilco and that their customers have an obvious affinity for better standards in their virtual simming. The topic is this. I and a friend have recently decided to embark on a project. Bottom line? We are not happy with the Flight Simulator Series or rather and similar title in the genre available today. We are in the initial stages of building an entirely new platform. My friend is a Computer Engineer and I am a Aerospace Engineer at the Graduate level. We are ceratain that our knowledge will be enough to get by the initial design issues. For example, shall we build on a Windows platform or develop a new OS? use DirectX or OpenGL?...I can assure the readers that based upon intial planning this will be a very accurate simulator to the highest level with performance in mind. A key selling point will be that the deficiencies found in the Flight Simulator series and provided by 3rd party developers will not be the case for this product. Many benefits of the 3rd party products will be found in the base package of our release. The case remains that this is a daunting task and I am aware of the talented developers out there including Wilco. Although not for the current time we know that addtional members who can bring something substantial to the table will be adressed. The customer base we are targeting is the knowledgeable aviator with possibilities for toning down the realism for the more novice flyer. We are aware the a major disadvantage of doing this task is the amount of 3rd party support (freeware and payware) that currently exists for the Flight Simulator series and fails to exist for such tiltes as Fly! or XPlane. What are we offering? Everything you want and are not seeing in the traditional titles. We DO NOT want to create an incomplete product and milk the customers for the next 30 years. We are doing this for our love of the aviation industry and out of respect to often shortchanged and well vewrsed consumer. We are currently 2 people with many ideas and solid educations to reassure the customer that we know what we are doing. Now what? I'd very much appreciate to here your views on our intentions and also suggestions, or if you have something to provide in terms of work experience or even know of a talented individual who would want to be a part of the project in some capacity whether now or in the future. Thank you for your time. I don't know when my next post will be (project related that is) but I will check back from time to time.Thank you, and to what the future brings...we know it's gonna be good!Vincent
