ATC/FMC

Featured Replies

How is it possible to get to any airport flying with a programmedFMC without having the ATC telling you 80 odd miles from target to change route and lower altitude etc.I'm flying the 767Pic under FS2002.Anybody,hint,answer?Thanks Grandpa Carel

FS2002 ATC is not very realistic. I don't use it at all, the only ATC I ever use is that of VATSIM.Ian

Thanks Ian,is there a specific file I look for or is it a set of files?Carel.

It's a whole new FS world actually. ;-) Well, not quite, perhaps, but it's online flying in multiplayer with ATC provided by actual human beings.http://www.vatsim.netOn VATSIM it is of course not possible to have 24/7 worldwide ATC coverage, so I still use the MS ATC quite a lot (mostly for the AI :-)). The workaround to not having to follow ridiculous clearances and getting your flight plan cancelled is this: On departure when you get handed off to another frequency, acknowledge the handoff ("going to XXX.XXX XYZ999"), switch to the new frequency if you like, but do not contact the new controller. If ATC can't talk to you, ATC can't cancel your flightplan (which is probably the most unrealistic part of MS ATC by the way) :-). Fly along without contacting ATC for as long as you like, and you can switch to any frequency you like without having your IFR plan cancelled. Then when you get close to your destination, perhaps before top-of-descent, perhaps when joining the ILS, contact the relevant ATC and they will talk to you like nothing out of the ordinary happened, and clear your for approach and landing.Martin767 fetishistIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing

Now thats what I call an answer!!Thank you very much Martin and the way it looks I'm on the way tobecoming addict myself.Because I'm new at this and if you don't mind i would like to ask yousome more questions in the near future oke'?Take care carel.

Hey, no problem. :-) The more pilots we get online the better! (Because more pilots = more ATC = more pilots... etc. :D)Martin767 fetishistIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing
