Neewbie: VFR and Flight Plans

Featured Replies

Hi,Could anyone, please, explain to me if and how I can establish a flight plan in which I choose flyover airports as landmarks in making a plan for vfr flying. It seems MSFS only allows only one departure and one destination airport. Sometimes I am lucky and the flight plan that is generated happens to use an airport waypoint but usually my intended route is quite different from the direct route plotted.ThanksJoe Hallstein

Unfortunately, I don't think MSFS allows multiple airports or airports as waypoints. That is very unrealistic and I do it all the time in real life. The only thing you can do is select airports with VORs, NDBs, fixes or intersections on or near them.

If I understand the question correctly, sure you can select airports as waypoints. I do it all the time. When the flight plan is generated, you'll see the line drawn between your starting point and destination. If there is an airport that you would like to have included as a waypoint, put your cursor over the line, right click and drag the line to the desired airport and release. The plan will then include that airport as a waypoint. -Lindy :-wave

Lindy, Thanks so much for your hint; it is exactly what I was hoping for now I can get a heading from an airport on my vfr route.
