Mission Failed... I give up!

Featured Replies

After doing hours of tests, tweaks, more tests, more tweaks and even more tests, I must admit I have failed.I did not find a single 757-200 that performs even close to the real thing. So I give up. I'm stuck with the 2 aisles until someone releases a proper 757.From all the tests I did, I focused more on the IFDG and FFG aircraft. Both were merged with the PIC panel for my tests. That's the target after all...The IFDG 757 has more visual detail with more animated parts. But it lacks power. It's way underpowered at altitudes above FL200 while it seems to perform well below that. Speeds above M.78 are not possible at all! And it's not Mike T's fault. The original IFDG airfile is to blame. I even tried their original airfile and it performs exactly the same.On the other hand the FFG 757 has less visual detail but flies a bit better. This one is way overpowered!!! Even at weights near MTOW it climbs like a rocket at 6000Ft/Min and still accelerates!! It does not have the problem that the IFDG has above FL200 and can keep a 1500-2000Ft/Min climb above FL310 as it should. Cruise at M.82 is obtained and maintained without problems and at a proper power setting. In this case the a/c seems to lack drag at low airspeeds or has too much lift. Apart from that it also has the problem with the low oil pressure lights illuminating all the time in the PIC panel even though the indicated pressure looks normal.Another strange notice is that the oil temperature drops below zero at altitudes above FL270 and this is very abnormal! Why does the 757 have to be so beautyfull?George DorkofikisAthens, Greece

Mike Stone is creating a 757 right now. It'll be amde in GMAX and hopefully will work ok with the PIC767 panel.Ryan-Flightpro08 :-coolVATSIM Pilot/ControllerZLA ARTCC Controller 1 (C-1)SAN TRACON Lead [link:www.taxiwaysigns.com]Taxiwaysigns.com Scenery Designer-----------------------------My "Home Made" System Specs:Intel Pentium 4 2.2GHz ProcessorTurbo Gamer ATX Mid-Tower with 420W Power SupplyEPoX 4G4A Motherboard with Intel 845G ChipsetVisiontek XTASY GeForce4 128MB Ti4600 (Det 29.80 WHQL Drivers)512MB PC2100 DDR RAM40GB Matrox 7200RPM Hard DriveWindows XP Home Edition*No CPU or GPU Overclocking*3dMark2001SE Score: 10346

Yeah, I read that in the FS forum, and I'm anxiously waiting for it!I just hope it flies right, and the merge should be easy as PIC panel is not very picky with the a/c attached to it.George DorkofikisAthens, Hellas

George,To answer your question....the 757 is so beautiful....well.....because IT IS!!!! Sorry, no other reason. I'm happy to say, the as wonderful as it looks, it flys even better. Mr. Boeing struck gold when he mated that airfoil to those wonderful powerplants (talking about the PW2037s...don't know about the RBs), it's a combination that doesn't come along in aviation very often.AFA finding a beautiful 757 that flies like the real deal...well, I haven't been able to find one. I've tried a couple (don't remember whose they were), and discarded them rather quickly. Wasn't there a commercial add-on for FS2K that featured the American Airlines version of the 757? I thought I remember seeing it somewhere many months ago on the back shelves of an EB.Sorry, but I wasn't much help....still just flying the 767 that PIC has blessed us with.later,Capt. You said it man!The 757 is THE most beautyfull and best combination till now!Take any charter airline... 90% of them use 757s!I think the AA 757 you are reffering to must be the PSS 757.Unfortunately it's for FS2000 and I don't think it works in FS2002.I'll check with a friend that has it though and let you all know.Fly safe,George DorkofikisAthens, Greece

Yes it works, and it's one nice rendition too... The best one as far as nose goes. The wings are weird though. Oh well. :)Cheers,Daniel PimentelSimuBuild GroupAA RULES!!! :)Download my semi-photoreal AA 757!:http://ftp.avsim.com/library/sendfile.php?DownloadID=16882Aerolineas Argentinas A330-200 NOW AVAILABLE!!http://www.thevivcorp.com/~fyarepaints/MyR.../posky332ar.zipChrome AA 767 NOW AVAILABLE!!http://www.thevivcorp.com/~fyarepaints/MyR...osky767aaV1.zipDominicana de Aviacion 727-53C NOW AVAILABLE!!http://www.thevivcorp.com/~fyarepaints/MyRepaints/dom722.zip______________________________"Whenever you find yourself in the side of the majority it's time to pause and reflect" - Mark Twain

Our friends at POSKY are also working on a 757. It's going to be a while before release (according to the forum) http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=read_count&om=2924&forum=DCForumID38But I do think that the 321 looks a little like a 757..... scary thought !Carl
