air file

Featured Replies

i tried to open the airfile with notepad and of course it doenst work. Now the file has the icon like a notepad file. How is possible to turn to the original icon "design"?harpsi

You need an air file editor/app to read the air file properly. The config file (picxyz.cfg) is what I think you are trying to alter, for that, notepad will work fine.

The fact that the icon changed to a Notepad icon means that it changed the filename suffix. Just rename it to end in .air and it shouldn't look like a Notepad file. Why did you save it out if editing did NOT work? You've likely corrupted the file.Lee Hetherington (KBOS)

Not necessarily. If he opened the file by double clicking on the icon, Windows would have most opened the dialog box saying it didn't know what program to use for reading the file. If he selected Notepad and had the "Always use the selected program to open this file type" function selected, Notepad would be used from now on and its icon would be associated with all airfiles. Now if this is what happened, I don't know of an easy way of changing it back to no selected program, short of editing the Registry. It won't really affect anything if Notepad stays associated with airfiles. If you install another program specifically designed to edit .AIR files, it may associate itself with all AIR files and give it a special icon.

Harpsi depending on the o/s your using you should be able to hit the shift key and right click on the icon and you should now get the dropdown menu again. Chose open with , and a list of programs will come up ,use notepad again but this time uncheck the box that says always open with this program. I know this used to work in win 98 but not sure about win xp. Ill try it when I get back to my xp machine
