September 18, 200223 yr There are a lot of steps to go through to trouble shoot your problem. And, there are a number of paths you might have to go down depending on what you find.First, what operating system do you have?Do you have multiple game devices configured in your game device manager?Have you successfully calibrated the MSPP within windows? What configuration do you have set within the MS Sidewinder configuation optionsHave you remapped any axis within the MS Sidewinder config program?Did you check the FS controls options to see if the MSPP appears and just the MSPP appears?Have you looked at the sensitivity settings in FS and see if they appear reasonable?Did you go into the FS assignments page and confirm the axis mapping there?Do you have the latest version of FSUIPC installed?Reply with answers to those questions and lets see if someone can help you out. We don't want to get into the FS config file till we have just about weeded out every other possible problem.
September 18, 200223 yr hi,i've got a dell p3 500,256 mb ram,ati 3d 4mb vid,end i havethe sliders at 50% with 17 to 20fps.no,this is my only game device.yes,it works like a charm.i don't know,i only use it for simming,i'll get into this...but i think......yup,it's on the fs setting.configured for a 737 400.default .nope..yes..it shows, with it's full name, and it's all alone.yes,i've even tried every possible combination, nothing works, infact,as soon as i change any of the sensitivity settings,it(the mspp that is)becomes quirkyyup,i've even looked into the cfg (fs2002) and into the devices list,i found the settings there were infact differing from the settings in the cfg.yes,i've got fsuipc .90hope i've ansered your questions goodenough, and uhm.....THANKS!!!a very desperate after seven days of trying and aching Tom van der Elstthat is now going to bed...i'll check in tomorrow....bye...
September 18, 200223 yr Confirm if your controller works fine with other aircraft, such as the default 737 or Cessna.Look at FSUIPC. Check what joystick controls are set in FSUIPC and which are not. What 767PIC aircraft config file are you using? - The default config that came in the 2002 update?- A POSKY aircraft config file?- A merged or altered aircraft config file?
September 19, 200223 yr I also have a SWPP2 USB joystick and experienced calibration problems very similiar to what you're going through now. My Sidewinder was especially screwy with going to full right aileron deflection immediately with the slightest right pull on stick. I happened with all my games, including MSFS2002.Here is the way I finally fixed it on my computer:Remove the joystick from your USB port. Delete all Sidewinder supplied software via the windows add/remove program dialog box.Using windows device manager, click on your computer's sound card or audio chip. Open the properties tab. Click on the 'disable this device' checkbox. (Make sure not to delete it, just disable temporarily.) Click out of everything and reboot your computer. When the operating system comes back up, open the device manager dialog again. You should see a big fat red X next to your soundcard, this is what we want. Ok, now reinstall your sidewinder software and connect your joystick back to the USB when prompted. Check to make sure the buttons are responding in the test screen. Run the supplied Sidewinder software and make sure the joystick responds correctly on all axes. If so, start MSFS2002 and disable flight sounds within MSFS2002 itself. After doing so, check to see if your Sidewinder is calibrated correctly now with the right pull completely gone. If everything looks good, exit FS and go back into device manager and UNncheck the disable box next to the soundcard.Run FS again and turn the flight sounds back on, after this you are good to go. If you notice the calibration problem surfacing again after you 'reable' your soundcard, try going into DirectX diagnostics and turning your sound acceleration down to basic. Repeat the entire process and give it another shot. Can't say if this will work for you but it certainly fixed me up quite well. I'm a happy camper with my Sidewinder PP2 now. The problem in my case was centered around some kind of conflict with my Soundcard and the initial calibration of the joystick during it's installation. As with all digital joysticks, the Sidewinder only needs to be calibrated once and this is accomplished automatically during installation. Once you get it sweet you are good to go. I hope this help you out, let me know.
September 19, 200223 yr Forgot to mention this but after you install the Sindwinder software you will actually have three new entries in your sound/game/video controller listings in Windows Device Manager: (2) Sidewinder Precison Pro Joystick entries (1) Sidwinder HID compliant virtual keyboard entryThis seems goofy but it's actually correct. Microsoft uses the increased bandwidth available with USB to map different Sidewinder joystick functions as separate individual virtual devices. Thus one of the Sidewinder devices is the joystick axes, one is the throttle, the other is the virtual keyboard/joystick buttons. This unique layout supposedly increases overall response and precision in game play. Just though you might have been perplexed about it as I was.
September 19, 200223 yr g'day mr bevington,it works fine on all ms aircraft, even(!) on the helo,i only experience problems with 767 pic,i do have merged posky aircraft, with Lee's merge(thumbs up dude!)which he kindly sent to me after the posky prob, but the problems exist also with the original airplanes.....it happens after i go in spotview, then my rudder stops functioning properly, and i justcan't get it calibrated...overall,with 767pic,my joystick just screws up,i've tried the soundcard solution, twice, but that isn't working...also i've removed all third party scenery, aircraft etc, andput them back one by one after a complete reinstall of fs2k2 and 767pic...but it was horror from the start.......i'm completely out of ideas now....i think it's time to get a new joystick.thanks for helping,Tom van der Elst
