September 19, 200223 yr Hi guys!A couple of questions on PiC:1.If Autobrakes are on a certain setting (1-4), will my manual inputs during rollout override them even if it is not on Disarm?2. I flew a flight from KSFO to KLAX last night not using the FMC for navigation for reccurency. I noticed that the Nav1 and Nav2 stations keep changing even on MAN mode. Any fixes to this?thanks!http://www.mydestiny.net/~michael8/genavbanner.gif

Any >fixes to this?Do you mean that the tuned frequencies actually changed? If so, are you sure the radios were in MAN mode during the whole flight? (They will switch to AUTO if the EHSI is switched to MAP mode.) Or did just the stations change (which they obviously will do when the tuned VOR is out of range, and you come in range of another VOR with the same frequency)?Martin767 fetishistIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing
September 20, 200223 yr Mike,In real life, once you touch the brakes the autobrakes goto disarm. I don't know for sure but as I recall using the "." key a few times will indeed disarm the autobrakes.>1.If Autobrakes are on a certain setting (1-4), will my >manual inputs during rollout override them even if it is not >on Disarm? Kind regards,Stephan Haas
September 20, 200223 yr thanks for the replies guys. Martin, I think my mistake was that I was sometimes shifting the ND to MAP mode to double check my navigation with the FMC programmed route. I think it shifted to auto because of that. Thanks.Stephen, I tried to disarm AB using the brakes (I use toe brakes) but couldn't get them to work. So what I do now to disarm them is to select Autobrakes Disarm on the panel.thanks again! :)http://www.mydestiny.net/~michael8/genavbanner.gif
September 20, 200223 yr Mike,I tried the autobrakes thing myself. Nor toebrakes, nor the "." command will disarm the AB. Strange, because I think it used to be like that in PIC. Perhaps in the FS2K version? Anyhow, disarming them on the panel is probably OKKind regards,Stephan Haas
September 21, 200223 yr In real life, applying toe breaking with autobrakes engaged, will disengage the autobrakes. Not so on PIC for FS2002, dunno about FS2000.Boeing recommends using autobrakes for all landings, with a setting corresponding to the circumstances (long/short/wet/dry runway). But this is only a game, and I prefer to brake manully just as I prefer to fly the aircraft manully.BTW, just tried an overweight (365.000lbs) manually flown approach and landing on one engine. Quite challenging really, loads of power needed from the remaining engine to maintain a Vref+15 of around 160kts. Plenty of rudder needed as well as dipping the aircraft into the good engine. I think I dented the MLGs slightly :) but just avoided scraping the pods.
September 21, 200223 yr Manual braking always disarms the autobrakes for me, even in FS2002. I have a joystick button activing the manual brakes. "." on the keyboard also disarms autobrakes for me.Lee Hetherington (KBOS)
September 22, 200223 yr This is strange! What Lee describes is what I remember, but just now it doesn't work like that any more. Lee: do you use pedals with toebrakes?Guess I'll have to fiddle with the config again.Kind regards,Stephan Haas
