Custom control joystick button assignments

Featured Replies

I'm having a reoccuring problem with PIC when assigning joystick button assignments.I want a joystick yoke button set up for autopilot disconnect (disconnect bar) on the custom control. I chose button #3 using the PIC custom control dialog box. This is the same one I chose for the autopilot master switch in FS2002 button assignment. For awhile, this worked just fine. Recently however, button 3 no longer works, it does not disconnect/reconnect autopilot. The button function correctly in FS2002. When I open the PIC custom control dialog box and try to update the button setting it immediately tells me that "the keyboard or joystick button you're selected is assigned to . Use clear to reset the button" I can neither reselect, override, overwrite, this selection. Even the selecting default settings does not change the error message.I'm am using a PFC Cirrus Jet Yoke but this problem occured using the CH Flight Sim Yoke (USB) earlier. I had to remove FS2002 and reload all for other reasons. I'm not too thrilled with removing PIC if I don't have to. Any suggestions was to what is happening and how it may be corrected? Thanks,Rich Boll

Hi Rich, unfortunately the PIC button / custom control interface has some problems. Sometimes it doesn't work correctly when you try to assign key commands or joystick buttons. Also it works sometimes very slow when trying to assign controls. When you use the interface, some keypresses are only acceptet, if you press the key severeal times. There is something wrong with this program. The best way to get around some of this problems is to assign the keys or buttons directly in the B767W.ini using a simple text editor. You only have to look through the already assigned keys and buttons, to avoid a double assignment of the same key / button and then enter the right key code of the key or the button number.Additionaly the PIC only assigns buttons of one joystick. I think, this is the first joystick, that is listed in the Windows settings for the game controllers. You can change the sequence of the controller ID's to get the right joystick at the first position. But this may cause problems with your joystick assignments in the FS2002.CFG. So if you try this, make a backup copy first! At last the PIC-interface only accepts inputs from a real keyboard. For technical reasons inputs from keyboard encoders are not recognised at all by PIC.If an assignment with PIC is impossible, you can use FSUIPC 2.90 to assign a keypress to your button of every joystick you use. In thePIC menu or B767W.ini you can assign this button to a PIC command like "Disconnect bar". This should work.Because of the problems with the PIC key assignments I use mostly key2mouse to send the key commands from the switches and the KE72 encoder to the PIC panel as mouse clicks. This works fine and without any problems.Regards,
