September 23, 200223 yr Fellow PIC Freaks...http://www.eleventhstreet.com/pic/pic_faq.htmIt's time to get moving on this. The FAQ will be taking shape over time, and I am sure that it will be many months until we have something we are truly proud of.Many people responded to my original post and sent me e-mails offering their help (someone even pointed out that they had suggested it months ago). Now is the time to put your money where your mouth is.1) Take a look at the list of questions.2) Choose 2 that you are interested in (first come first serve).3) Send me an email specifying your choices.4) When I get back to you.. write it.5) Help your fellow PIC'rs - especially the new people - there is so much for us to learn. As topics are "assigned" they will be noted on the website.Feel free to use your personalities in your writing style - keep it light if you choose to - just make sure you explain the problem well enough for someone to understand (including those who might not speak english as a first language). If you want to add some pictures, screen shots, or diagrams to illustrate your point - go for it, just make sure that the graphics are only as large as they need to be.No need in everyone responding to this post - we all know it is an amazing idea - email me with how you want to help - if you don't email me, you're not helping. September 26, 200223 yr Good point about adding other subjects. This is going to be a work in progress for a long time.
September 30, 200223 yr Mike,What Route are you going to use for your FMC tutorial - just so I can then programme the SIDS Stars and approaches for that Route.Mark
October 1, 200223 yr Mark,It's good that you ask me this, I had not thought to coordinate my route entry piece to your SID/STAR parts of the FAQ. I will be using St. Louis to Boston. Flight Plan as follows:KSTL-GATWY4.ROD-J29-JHW-J82-ALB.GDM2-KBOS FL370That route will enable me to show how to connect airways and will illustrate how just a few entries on the RTE page 2 plus a quick selection of the SID/STAR and clicking on the transitions will result in 4 LEGS pages. I will also show the route entry for Madeira to Ponta Delgada, LPMA-IRKID3N.IRKID-35N020W-ETROX-H104-VSM.VSM1A-LPPD. This was primarily chosen as a fairly short route that includes a LAT/LNG fix. If you want to give that SID/STAR combination a shot, that would be OK, but the SID is really more of a fly by hand procedure and the STAR is just VSM-VMG and then VMG/-25 plugged in the middle. If you have any suggestions or want to work through some of this or the other parts of the FAQ, fire me an email. Perhaps we can get together for some live dialog on RW or other. Thanks,
October 1, 200223 yr Oh yea, the runways. Will take them out of KSTL on 30R and show the Boston arrival on 04R. The normal approach is straight across (REVER) then a right turn for downwind setting up a right pattern to 4R.For Madeira, departing runway 05 and arriving at Ponta Delgada on the ILS runway 12.
