October 1, 200223 yr For anyone knowledgable... Are the F/O's EADI and EHSI and Captain's EHSI in this picture taken from a 757/767? I mean, is it the same "box" you put in the 734 and 757/767?http://www.airliners.net/open.file/272425/L/Martin767 fetishistIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing
October 2, 200223 yr HI Martin,I had the same thoughts some thimes after seeing similar pictures. And I think yes it is the case. But I do not think it
October 2, 200223 yr Matthias,There are many different FMC models and software version. I suspect it's the same with EADIs, so there are probably some 737s that have the same kind of EADI and FMC as some 767s, and some that have totally different FMC/CDU keyboards and software versions. But I suspect that the physical EADI "box" is the same regardless of the software. Ian will tell us! :-)Martin767 fetishistIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing
October 2, 200223 yr "But I suspect that the physical EADI "box" is the same regardless of the software. Ian will tell us!"Sorry, Martin... Although I regularly work on 767's, I haven't seen a 757 for many years (and I haven't worked on one). As for 737's, I can't say I've had the pleasure of changing any instruments at all on these aircraft.CRT display differences are achieved in a number of ways:Software reprogramming of the instrument or the associated display computer (which feeds the instrument)Hardwiring new circuits into the instrumentShorting out specific pins (contacts) on the back of the instrument.Offhand, however, I can't tell you which methods the smaller Boeing's use.As for the outward appearance.... I'm not 100% sure, but I think different coloured instruments have different part numbers. e.g. a grey (gray) instrument may have a different P/N from a brown one. Although a brown one may work perfectly well in an aircraft with grey instruments, for aesthetic reasons, airlines prefer the one colour.Hope this helps.Cheers.Ian.
October 3, 200223 yr I believe that I can confirm this for you. I flew the other week from chicago on a UAL 737-322 that had the "boeing beige" crt's installed, and the pilots confirmed that they were in factthe same CRT's used on the 75/67... I took measurements of them, because I'm playing around with the idea of building a simulator built on the 57/67s. Phil Geddes
