October 3, 200223 yr hi !there are a couple of questions that puzzle me.hope someone can sort this out.if i plan a normal 2000 miles flight with 20 000 lbs reserves i get a fuel load of approx 90 000 lbs.zfw = 245at takeoff and after engagim vnav and autothrottle, climb power is set at about 104.3 and N1 reads 104.2 or 104.4 . ( from memory. may be wrong but the difference is negletible )the thing is, at criuse, i get calculated N1 value of 99.3 BUT N1 reads only 93.1. what is wrong ? i feel is the performance init at the fmc but i fail to figure what is wrong. also, i start at 350 but with 52.0 Klbs of fuel I get a max crz level of 415 . isn't this too much ??hope someone can sort this out.thanks Pedro LeitePS: Nice surprise at the post "Huge SID/STAR databse" check it.
October 3, 200223 yr Hi Pedro,Is the cruise N1 value you are referring to the figure displayed on the upper EICAS in green next to 'CRZ'? If so this is your cruise thrust limit, not the N1 required to maintain your speed. In VNAV PTH if you press CLB on your thrust management computer the green figure will change to your climb thrust limit next to 'CLB'. The only time the thrust will actually stay at this limit is when N1 is displayed on your EADI for autothrottle mode on takeoff or climb, or when you demand a higher speed during cruise when the aircraft requires maximum cruise thrust to accelerate. As long as the aircraft is achieving planned cruise mach I wouldn't worry! If you are worried about max altitudes etc. start by checking the ZFW in your CFG file, it may be different to the figure you are entering in the FMC.Cheers.
October 4, 200223 yr Does anyone experience a different N1 value at takeoff, when pressing the N1/EPR button, about 1% more than the reference green takeoff value? I mean, if the ref. value is say 102.3, when I press N1/EPR the thrust levers advance until 103.3. Further, when reaching 80 knots (hold mode), N1 starts decreasing, even below 102.3.Thank you,Luca
