October 23, 200223 yr HiAnyone know what 'DDM' stands for?It appears on the BA takeoff briefing checklist & on Vital Data card. Thanks
October 24, 200223 yr I know we use 'QDM' to designate the 'M'agnetic 'D'irection of the runway. DDM may be similar. On a checklist it would refer to setting the heading on the MCP or the ILS direction on the ILS selector panel. What response does this check call for?
October 24, 200223 yr Hi AnthonyIt is on the 'Before Start' checklist and does not call for a response .The checklist goes like this:Inspections & Security - COMPLETEDAir Conditioning - SETInstruments - CHECKEDQNH/Aa - SET & CROSSCHECKEDACARS - INITIALISEDPark Brake - SETBriefing:DDM/AIS/Sig Wx/Takeoff alternate/Runway...... and so onSo 'DDM' is just something to consider whilst the briefing is taking place.:-)
October 24, 200223 yr Dispatch Deviation Modifications? Matters? Manual?Perhaps they need to discuss what effect MEL's & the Dispatch Deviation Guide have on the departure?Just guessing :-)Cheers.Ian.
October 24, 200223 yr I have a friend who used to fly for USAir and the DDM as part of the brief would include the following - not including normal or standard takeoff brief:Review the departure with emphasis on anticipated track and altitude restrictions.1) ATC Clearance2) SID or IFR Departure3) Route Manual - Airport Advisory page, Departure Section - Noise Abatement Procedures as appropriate - Engine Failure During Takeoff or Missed Approach as appropriateRegards,Cliff
October 25, 200223 yr Hiya IanU were right! It is now known as MEL (Minimum Equipment List). So if u had lost the use of one pack and the engineer couldn't fix it you would discuss the fact you would be limited to FL350 on your next leg :-)
