is 88% normal to derate a plane on take off?

Sounds a bit low to me, if you are talking about a 767 with GE engines. In PIC, I don't think it's possible to go that low with assumed temperature. (There are no fixed de-rates in PIC, so it's called "reduced" thrust rather than "derated".)Martin767 fetishistIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing

If you are refering to the TO1 and TO2 buttons they are a derated takeoff. TO1 is 90% of takeoff thrust, not 90% n1. TO2 is 82% of takeoff thrust. These are the two derated takeoff modes that most airlines use, because they are simpler to use and it is easier for the pilots to add a little extra power if they want, without having to understand assumed temp. I don't think PIC actually derates when you push these buttons, but it does annunciate TO1 or TO2 if you push them.

alcornl:I can confirm that TO1/2 on PIC doesn't derate the takeoff, it just determines what mode of CLB thurst you use after takeoff, with nothing indicated it's CLB, TO1=CLB1 and TO2=CLB2.Cheers,

A question about selecting derated climb thrust. In the actual aircraft it is possible to select the required derate (if any) when programming the takeoff thrust in the TMC prior to start, however I am unable to do this until both engines are running in PIC. Is there something I am doing wrong?

I'm talking about TAKE OFF! and I wonna see how u can confirm that TO1=CLB1 and TO2=CLB2!!The "1" and "2" on the panel above the gear selector in PIC IS the CLB setting!!it is possible in PIC too set TO1 and TO2, look in the FMC at the Thrust Limmet Page!
