November 27, 200223 yr hiHow to indicate a number right in "AVG WND DIR" and also "AVG WND SPD" for a very long flight?I use FSMETEO (online) which can indicate with the flight plan of FS; the wind, its direction, its force and calculate the deviations of course, the ground speeds etc. by segment But it cannot calculate the average. Would somebody be to do that? that would make it possible to have a figure almost right has to enter TRIP DATASORRY FOR MY ENGLISH
November 28, 200223 yr saofe,The easiest way to estimate the average wind component is to look at the Upper Wind Prog chart for the appropriate altitude and time that applies to your flight. Draw (or mentally imagine) your flight path on that map and you will get a good idea of the average wind component. It will certainly be accurate enough for general flight planning purposes.here is a link to upper wind progs:http://aviationweather.gov/fltfldr/Kevin in CYOW
