Suddenly unable to save/restore panel settings

Featured Replies

Suddenly, none of my saved flights are able to read their panel settings AND saving a flight does not save settings that can be restored.Anyone have any clue at all what could be going on?

That's an odd one...I have noticed it on occasion, but I usually end up creating new saved flights with panels re-sized and it works out ok...I then delete the saved fligths that have become 'corrupted'.Did you install the 3rd party Hardware patch? If not, only thing I can suggest is to delete your FS2002 config file and re-set your preferences in FS2k2. Remember to change your turbulence factor to .2 and the wind ramp/gust settings as per the FSUIPC - Peter Dowson document. This has solved many problems for me and is probably a good maintenance habbit.Other than that, you are looking at a PIC767 re-install like I did last weekend for 4 hours because I installed the 3rd party Hardware patch and found some things I did not like. The the bloody thing kept crashing in the spot view...blew away the FS2k2 config, re-set it, all is good now.Oh, BTW, check your PIC menu options/preferences...there is something in there about saving/recalling panel settings and such...maybe some odd key combination has affected something.Good luck mate.Rob.

I have just discovered that I'm in the same boat. Just selected one of my autsaves from last night. The panel and FMC are all reset.... I wonder if this is a result of the 3rd party patch or something else...

That pesky thrid party patch - the plot thickens..I have had issues with autosave more often than regular saved flights...I saved a bunch of flights after I re-installed last weekend and had no worries.Rob.

Go here first as Rob stated,"Oh, BTW, check your PIC menu options/preferences...there is something in there about saving/recalling panel settings and such...maybe some odd key combination has affected something." You too Murf!

DITTO THAT... I too got the "auto-save" unsaved panel configurations problem after installing the 3rd Party patch. But overall I liked the patch. I talked to some 767 pilots at UAL, they said they've NEVER seen a "fuel-disagree" warning on the FMC. The fuel flow between the two tanks is much better with the patch... But I also want auto-save to work... ARGHHHH!!! Does manually saving really take care of this???Phil Geddes

The 3rd party hardware patch is the culprit. It causes the .FMC files to be invalid, which means anything you save, either via autosave or manually, doesn't work. It also means that it won't appear on the list of flights to export a panel to or to load a panel from.Creative use of GoBack allowed me to eliminate the patch and all is right with the world again. I liked the automatic open/close of the APU intake on the POSKY model but it's hardly worth the pain. Again, the 3rd party patch seems to make the .FMC files that are generated at save time be invalid.

Nice work Mr C (Happy Days reference intended).Wish I had GoBack...and I wish I could GoBack and re-coup the 4 hours of my life I wasted fiddling and re-installing the 767 to get rid of the 3rd patch affects.Would have been nice if the 3rd Party Hardware patch had a simple readme file, or some kind of release notes, or anything that might have given users a head's up as to the pro's and con's. I am the biggest PIC767 fan in the world...but I have to say that the 3rd Party Hardware patch seems to be a bit of a mess. I would rattle my cage more, but I also understand this was a free "upgrade", and no promises were made from the team about the performance of the patch.Lesson learned here.Rob.
