Eicas messages FONTS ( Win Xp versus Win 98)

Featured Replies

I tried to run 767 PIC on Windows Xp.It worked, but only one thing troubled me: the fonts on the EICAS screen in Windows XP look very different than they use to be.Look at the attachment to see the difference, they look much more bold. It's only the fonts from the EICAS screen. The fonts of the messages ont the flight mode annunciator for example look the same.Does anyone else have this problem? What can be done about it?Question 2: Is it really possible to run 767 PIC properly on Win XP?Christiaan Gorter

Christiaan,When I converted to XP, everything got a little better actually. As I remember, changing something with the fonts in XP did make a difference. Something like "clear type" turned on made everything much better on my monitor. You may have to experiment a bit. When I upgraded early this month to the latest driver set, everything got a LOT better on the EICAS and the FMC.I hope you figure it out because for me, PIC looks a great deal better in XP than before!

As I recall, the fonts that you have on the WinXP picture are how they're intended to be displayed.I had a similar issue a ways back when one of my fonts either was deleted or never was installed. I remember looking at people's screenshots and saying "why don't mine look like that?" In some instances, the complete message wouldn't appear on the EICAS.Of course, I can' remember which font it was, but I'm wondering if, when you did the XP upgrade, it replaced or added this font.Jon (KSEA)
