December 23, 200223 yr Hi all, my first post but I have been looking at the forum for sometime now and it has been a wealth of information so I am sure you will be able to help....but first a little background.I have been using PIC for some years and have many sim hours with the program and FS, I was even lucky enough to spend a few magnificent hours in a real sim at United airlines recently (absolutely mind blowing and a little more responsive than our PC's!!), anyway I recently added a 2nd monitor to my system and have the SB window running in it with the throttle quadrant when flying on VATSIM, I was on a hands on final to ORD the other night and while trying to type a message to the controller (acknowlege cld to land)I made the mistake of turning off the fuel flow valve on the throttle quad with the mouse....well things started to happen pretty quickly, lots of warnings so I hit the autopilot and tried to restart the engine, what I forgot was that the autothrottle automatically turns off with only one engine running, what I should have done was ignore the engine shutdown and done a single engine landing which I have practised many times. But during my bungled attempts to restart the engine the airspeed kept dropping with no autothrottle and before I could say "oh c**p" I had stalled way too close the the ground.....didn't make the field...very embarrassing.....on line too!!So the point of this story is "how do you restart an engine in flight?"I could look up the manuals but I was looking for a reason for my first post!Happy holidays...I'm flying to the UK on AAL174AndrewPIC enthusiast
