Hi I know after an engine failure on take-off you should be at V2-V2+15. I wanted to find out what is the minimum speed you can fly with full rudder and full power applied on take-off before you lose rudder control? The minimum I can fly is 140knots with full power and rudder before I loose the rudder is this right? Or I should be able to hold direction at slower speed with full power and rudder. Also what is the minimum speed you can hold direction on the real 767? Thank You :-)

This speed is Vmca, minimum controllable airspeed in the air (as opposed to Vmcg on the ground). Vmca is always lower than V2, obviously. It's dependent on weight, density altitude (temp and pressure altitude) and how much thrust you use.So it's logical that when performing a full thrust takeoff, when one engine fails, at 140 knots, you don't have enough rudder effectiveness to overcome the live engine thrust. Decreasing thrust may give back controllability. So the higher the thrust, the higher Vmca and Vmcg, ie. the less thrust you have, the better you will be able to control the aircraft, as long as you have enough to safely meet your climb requirements.Iz

As a guide for you Vmca on a GE powered 767-300 in ISA conditions is around 100 kias. This has all the usual Vmca parameters, including 5 degrees angle of bank towards the dead engine.By the way, our certification and performance allows for only V2 to V2+5 in an engine out situation.
