January 12, 200323 yr SENARIOAfter a flight from EGBB to LEPA in Europe and experiencing what I thought was a VNav problem, I have discovered it
January 12, 200323 yr Try using FLCH or just let the FMC handle the climb via VNAV. Using a set V/S isn't a very good way to climb because of so many variations in a/c weight, environmental conditions, etc., etc. You should at least let the FMC do a couple of climbs to altitude for you so you can see how it's supposed to be done.
January 12, 200323 yr Go to Settings/Realism Settings and make sure you have "Display Indicated Airspeed" selected.
January 12, 200323 yr Thanks for the replies guysI do have Indicated Airspeed set in the Realism settings, nice thought. In terms of letting the FMC and VNav taking over, with Cruise set at Fl370, we never make Fl100 with out the stall, V/c setting was only used as a further test, and when that failed, I disconnected the Ap, and eventually reached a state of what might be described as a state of euqalibreumFeel Out Side air Temp may be involved here don't know enough about that though.Another strange phoemenon, when trying to climb manually, and reaching this point where the stall would develope, the Barbers pole would start to move back along the Airspeed guage, following the airspeed needle, this I have never seen before. The only thing I wonder, Having Reinstalled windows Xp not that long ago, and Fs2002 having been installed on a seperate partition, may this have upset the original Fs2002 installation. This one will take some cracking, thanks for the continued supportRegrdsDave
January 13, 200323 yr Dave, seriously, you expect your 767 to be able to hold 2500 fpm above FL100? It can't, certainly not at full fuel. So what happens is, airspeed will drop to keep the required v/s until you stall because there's no stall protection in the v/s mode. Please check the other topic on "Vertical Speed" where I explain why the v/s mode is hardly ever used.Iz
January 13, 200323 yr check to see if you are using metres in FS by mistake. Set it to feet and all should be well, as this is what happend to me.Hope this works.Lee.
January 14, 200323 yr Yes, Lee your Diagonois was correct, although my results don't seem consistantI will need to test further, but I flew a Hawk T1 to FL370 which I couldn't do before. But this could account for why the barbers pole kept decreasing, last night actually exceeded the never fly speed, at 200ktsThanks all for your support but I am confident this was my problem, so obvious reallyRegardsDave
