February 12, 200323 yr I'm starting to use the Zero Fuelweight Changer by Ben Alexander Brown http://www.speedbirdonline.co.uk/767.html (thanks Workingstiff for the link). In another document (PIC_ZFW.PDF) on that same web page it is said that PIC will behave rather strangely if the ZFW is not set between 195000 and 260000.The Zero Fuelweight Changer program does not abide by these limits. What are your experiences about the envelope that the ZFW can be changed in PIC ???
February 12, 200323 yr Hi Mate,Being from Europe, Denmark more precisely, I've got my system set to KGS. I've got around 40 PIC/POSKY merged 767s in the aircraft folder, all with different ZFWs. Since I'm in KGS and PIC is in LBS, the values needs to be converted in the cfg folder. What was I trying to say? Oh yeah, I've got ZFW ranging from 98.500 kgs (217153 lbs) to 130.500 KGS (287700 lbs) and none of the aircraft are behaving strange. However, in my experience the heavier the aircraft is, the better and more realistic it handles. Since I always fly the kite manually below FL100, handling qualities are very important. This is especially true for take-offs, as lightly loaded aircraft are just a bit to eager to accellerate right past V2+20.
February 12, 200323 yr Hi,That is good to know, will not load her too lightly...who wants to fly with 20 people aboard anyway :7
February 12, 200323 yr That is the same approach and observation I have only using LBS in all cases. I even have a 199,000 ZFW that is a real challenge to keep inside the speed profile. But of all of the landing weights possible, somewhere between 260,000 and 280,000 feels the best to me.
